Our Ministries

Caring

Unity Church's Caring Network is a Shared Ministry.  Members of the Church are invited to offer a Caring Ministry to other Members of the Church who are in need of their Ministry.

The general areas of Ministry that our Caring Network offers are:

  • Home/Hospital Visits
  • Check-in Phone Calls
  • Transportation
  • Meal Preparation and Delivery
  • Home Help
  • Child Care
  • Emergency Financial Assistance

The Caring Network is organized by Jeff Messier, Andy Champagne-Willis and Rev. Baumberger.  If you would like to participate in the Caring Network, please fill out a Caring Network Survey Online (Surveys are also available at the Church). And, of course, whenever you are in need of Caring Ministry or Pastoral Care, of any kind, please contact the minister at the Church Office: 508-238-6373.

Social Justice

Unity Church is involved in a wide variety of Social Justice work organized by our Social Justice Coordinating Committee and many Unity Church Justice-Makers.  These include:

  • Supporting the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee

  • Supporting Womansplace Crisis Center in a variety of ways, including our annual Mother's Day Eve Concert.

  • Offering the Church a Social Action Resource Table.

  • Participating in the Brockton-area Interfaith Community

  • Christmas Toy Drive for for Families in our Area

  • UCAN (Unity Church Aiding Neighbors) - English as a second language program

  • Aid the Easton Food Pantry

And there are many, other Social Justice activities Unity Church engages in from time to time.

Safe Congregations

Our Safe Congregations Committee - Cathy Kligler, Scott Brigante, Niki Tattersfield, and the minister work with various church committees to keep our congregation as Safe and Healthy as possible.

Please contact a member of the committee with questions.

Covenant Groups

Covenant Groups are one of Unity Church's "Small-Group Ministries."  They are groups of 5 - 12 people that meet either once or twice a month for mutual support, spiritual exploration and growth, and service to the wider community.  Each Covenant Group is facilitated by an experienced lay-person

Covenant Group meetings follow a typical pattern:

1.  Opening Reading and Chalice Lighting

2.  Group Check-in

3.  Discussion and Exploration of a Theme

4.  Closing Reading and Extinguishing the Chalice

Meetings last for 1.5 or 2 hours, depending up on the decision of the members of the Covenant Group.

Twice each year each Covenant Group promises to provide a service project to the wider community.  Examples of service projects include leading a retreat for the Unity Church community, providing a work team for a Habitat for Humanity build-day, and serving a meal at Mainspring House for families in need.

Covenant Groups are designed to grow!  There is always room for new members of covenant groups, and once a group has reached 10 - 12 members it divides into two groups.

Unity Church currently offers three Covenant Groups. Their meeting times are:

Barton Covenant Group: 1st Monday of the month, 10:00 a.m. at Holly House.  Minister, facilitator.

Emerson Covenant Group:: 2nd Monday of the month, 7:00 p.m., at the home of Young Un.  Stephanie Leighton, facilitator.

Channing Covenant Group: 1st and 3rd Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the home of Julie Un.  Julie Un, facilitator.

Covenant Group Meeting topics are constantly being created, but previous topics have included:

Your most powerful spiritual experience

Places I remember...

Gratitude

Words of Wisdom that have stayed with you

Solstice and Equinox

Please consider joining one of our Covenant Groups.  You are warmly invited!  Contact the church office if you'd like more information.

Book Group

Unity Church's Book Group meets at the home of Walter Tramontano.  This group meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 11:30 am.  Contact Michele Blake if you have questions.

Music

Unity Church offers opportunities for providing a ministry of music in a number of ways:

*   Our 12 member Chancel Choir sings every Sunday, and practices on Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m.  New singers are always welcome.  Throughout the year members of our Choir also offer Solos during Sunday Services.

*   Our 3-octave Handbell Choir plays during our Sunday Services once each month and on a number of other occasions throughout the year.  The Handbell Choir practices each Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.

*   Occasionally Unity Church gathers a Children's choir for special events.

Our Music program is organized by our Music Director, Richard Hill.  Please see the Music Director's portion of the website for further information.
